Charity Salsa Party was first started in 2009 by Barb Bayton, with the support of
Matt Parkes, although at that point it did not have a name! Barb wanted to hold a Salsa
party to raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital, where her son is treated for a
long term, genetic condition. Not being a teacher or DJ herself, Barb asked Dean and
Claire Snuggs of Teach You Salsa if they would host the night and DJ Mani of
Muchasalsa to provide the music. Guest teachers were invited to provide classes, Matt
Parkes designed flyers for promotion and the event was held at Evesham Working
Men's Club, Worcestershire, on Saturday 13th February 2010 and was a great success,
raising £1200.
After such a successful night and people asking when the next event was Barb was
driven to start organising again! Matt then created a logo and the first version of the
website and Charity Salsa Party was born!
The rest, as they say, is history! You can see information about all the events Charity
Salsa Party has been involved with on the Previous Events page. Please also take a
moment to look at the Thank You and Links pages, which have information about all
the wonderful people that have worked or continue to work with Charity Salsa Party!
